Why I Create

As the designer of EDYA, and as a woman, I have been given the opportunity to experience many different stages of life.
Through these experiences, I felt it was important to put into words what grounds my creative work and what purpose it serves.

I realized that we often have more to bring to the table than we think.
As a single mother, working independently while raising a child, I hope to create something that can be passed on—not only to my own child, but also to the next generation.

While I speak from the perspective of fashion, my learning has extended far beyond the world of apparel.
I have drawn deep influence from psychology, philosophy, and architecture—fields that explore the inner life of people, the structure of thought, and the spaces we inhabit.

Through fashion, I believe we can speak about life itself.
And beyond that, I believe there are connections that reach into other disciplines and other ways of seeing the world.
This belief continues to guide my work, quietly and with intention.

 

EDYAのデザイナーとして、そして一人の女性として、私はこれまで多くの経験をさせてもらいました。

その中で、「自分は何を拠り所に、何を目的としてクリエーションをしているのか」を、きちんと文章として残したいと思うようになりました。

思っている以上に、私たちはテーブルの上に残せるものを持っている。

一人で仕事をし、子育てをしているシングルマザーとして、

自分の子どもに、そして次の世代へと受け渡せるものがあるなら、それはとても意味のあることだと感じています。

私はアパレルという視点から語りますが、

これまで心理学や哲学、建築といった分野からも多くを学んできました。

人の内面、空間の在り方、思考の構造——

それらはすべて、ものづくりと深くつながっていると感じています。

おそらく、アパレルを通して語ろうとしているのは、

服そのものではなく、人生そのものなのだと思います。

そしてその先には、ファッションを超えて、

別の世界へと通じる普遍的な何かがある。

私は、そう信じてものづくりを続けています。
